CV PIO Task Force goes behind the scenes at KESQ-TV
Twenty-five members of the Coachella Valley Public Information Officers Task Force recently braved the heat and came together for an exclusive tour of KESQ-TV studios. This unique opportunity offered a firsthand look at how local news comes together and reaches viewers across the region in real time.
Representing cities, special districts, airports and other organizations throughout the region, members received a warm welcome from news director John Atwood, before getting a look inside the newsroom, offices and perhaps the most exciting stop, the live studio. Along the way, the group watched a live taping of Eye on the Desert, featuring fellow CV PIO Task Force member Xochitl Peña of Desert Water Agency delivering a water conservation segment.
The visit served two purposes. Local communicators gained a better understanding of newsroom operations and what happens when news is breaking. At the same time, the KESQ team had a chance to meet many of the public information professionals they regularly work with and put faces to the names behind the information they receive.
CV Strategies is proud to help facilitate opportunities like this as part of the Task Force’s ongoing effort to strengthen relationships across the region. Connecting outside a traditional meeting setting helps our clients build relationships with media partners and fellow communicators that overall supports building effective communication throughout our communities.
