Three Days Inside California’s State Water Project

What happens when you go to water school for three days?

Last week, I had the opportunity to join San Bernardino Valley’s State Water Project Tour and see firsthand the massive system behind so much of the work we communicate every day. I learned a ton, but more importantly, the tour put the projects we work on into perspective.

We stood in the middle of Sites Valley and learned that if and when Sites Reservoir is built, the place where we were standing would be under roughly 250 feet of water.

That visit came at a pivotal moment for the project. Just one day later, Sites Reservoir reached a major milestone when the Sites Project Authority Board voted to advance into the next phase of the project.

The trip also gave me something I value just as much: time with our people. Three days on a bus, at facilities and out in the field gave me the chance to build deeper relationships with our clients and make a lot of new water industry friends.
